About Us
Since 1920 - 4th Generation
In 1920, Norm Williams and Robert Scott opened a hardware store to serve builders and homeowners in Englehart, Ontario. Eventually, Mr. Scott passed away and Mr. Williams continued to run the store until his son Jack Williams took over. When Jack passed away in 1990, his daughter Darcy and her husband Gary Hebert carried the torch. They ran a successful business for over 30 years, and when they were looking for retirement options, their daughter Bridget and her husband Jason Foss decided to keep it going, keeping the respected name Williams & Scott Hardware and becoming the fourth generation of the family to run the store.
Williams & Scott has served Englehart and the surrounding area for more than 100 years. In 2014, Gary and Darcy moved the store into the former Englehart Community hall in order to grow product selection and better serve the community.
Today, we carry the hardware basics — plumbing, electrical, tools, and of course nuts and bolts. We also carry interior and exterior paint and all the essentials to make those projects successful. We are all D-I-Yers ourselves, so we are excited to support your new projects and can offer personal experience with the products we offer. We are open early to support contractors prepping for their daily projects. We stock power tools, hand tools, and all the essential supplies for professional and D-I-Y projects at a great price point.
Many of our neighbors enjoy fishing and hunting, and we support them with great fishing gear and ammunition.
During the winter months, many of our friends can be found at the local ice skating rink, so we carry Howie's Hockey gear and offer hockey and figure skate sharpening and support our local teams. In the summer, we sponsor an adult slow-pitch team and youth soccer and slow pitch teams. Our community’s youth are important to our future so Williams & Scott Hardware sponsors a bursary at Englehart High School, and have donated five-gallon buckets to three local schools’ music programs for bucket drumming. In the spring we fill a greenhouse in front of the store with plants from Aidie Creek Gardens so those gardeners who are not able to travel still have access to their beautiful flowers. We are the go-to stop for All Treat garden soil and additives in the month of May.
We carry a little bit of everything, and if we don't have it we can usually order it — just ask! We are proud to carry on Norm and Robert’s legacy of great customer service while continually improving our hardware offerings.
We look forward to seeing you here soon!
